SAHS Athletes of the Week
Claire Rutscher — Girls swimming and diving
The Stillwater girls’ swimming and diving team has made a habit of delivering strong performances at the True Team state meet and its most recent showing on Saturday night was no exception.
Claire Rutscher was the only double winner at the U of M Aquatic Center as she won the 100 freestyle (52.29) and the 100 backstroke (57.15). The senior also swam on the second-place 200 medley (1:47.70) and 400 freestyle (3:32.18) relays, joining teammates Sophia Bisch, Kristin Erf and Kylie Burgess each time. Rutscher and the Ponies racked up 2,066.5 points to finish behind Minnetonka and Wayzata.
The Ponies (9-0 SEC, 11-0) will host the Section 4AA meet on Nov. 8-10.
Eric Colvin — Boys cross country
There has been some movement in Stillwater’s lineup this season, but not at the top two spots where Eric Colvin has been a consistent performer for the top-ranked boys’ cross country team in the state.
Running behind Wayde Hall, who has won six of eight races this fall, Colvin provides leadership and an enviable No. 2 runner for the defending state champs, who repeated their conference and section titles during the past two weeks. Colvin placed third at Wednesday’s section meet with a time of 15:53.4 and ran to a third-place finish with a time of 15:30 at the conference meet a week earlier.
Winners of seven straight races, Stillwater will compete at state on Nov. 3.
