LaRhae Knatterud from the state Department of Human Services kicks soff the event with “Own Your Future Minnesota: Planning for long-term care.” About 70 percent of Minnesotans 65 and older will need help with health and personal care needs as they age. Knatterud will outline the purpose of the state awareness campaign and the impact long-term care has on you and your loved ones, the importance of planning, being prepared and knowing your choices.
“Tag – you’re it! Stories of Care-giving” is the keynote address presented by Kari Berit, author and radio show host of “The Unexpected Caregiver.”
During her keynote, Berit’s upbeat, sincere, and outrageous stories will relate to your life, offering priceless support, ideas and comfort for those taking on the highly emotional role of caregiver to a loved one.
In addition to the speakers, a variety of workshops and professionals at the resource tables will answer questions and provide information and options available. After having the opportunity to visit the resources and workshops, attendees will gather for a final Q&A session comprised of a panel of all workshop presenters.
“As an outreach and service to the community, the event is open to everyone, with a focus on Washington County,” said Beth Paterson, founder of Savvy Senior Sources and the Savor Life Educational & Resource Fairs.
Paterson founded Savvy Senior Sources with the mission to be the premier place to turn by easily guiding your way through resources “A to V.”
