Girls cross country: Ponies second at Prior Lake

PRIOR LAKE — Paced by Abby Lange and Maria Morley as the top two finishers, the Stillwater girls’ cross country team placed second at Thursday’s four-team race at Prior Lake High School.

The Ponies posted a score of 34 to finish behind host Prior Lake (25), but well in front of third-place Burnsville (85).

Lange turned in a winning time of 15:14 while Morley crossed the line in 15:38, but the Lakers provided each of the next five finishers to claim the team title. Lauren Lampright (16:27) followed in eighth place while Ari Krenz (16:37) and Fiona Montie (16:37) completed the scoring in 11th and 13th place.

n Also on Thursday, Elise Buchman (16:57) and Cassie Willaert (16:57) finished first and second in the JV race as the Ponies scored 23 points to outdistance Prior Lake (35) and Burnsille (88).
