ST. PAUL — Matt Lagus and Patrick Roth provided a goal each to help carry the Stillwater boys’ soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday.

Lagus scored on a free kick with just two minutes remaining in the first half and Roth scored what turned out to be the game-winner five minutes into the second half for the Ponies (6-0-1 SEC, 10-1-3).

Stillwater, which outshot the Raiders 16-5 in the game, is unbeaten in its last 10 games.

“Our defensive core did a really good job of staying focused and communicating,” Ponies coach Phil Johnson said. “Cretin is a quick team and they have some skill and they came at us in the second half. It was a very good game, a very exciting game, and we played well.”
