Company hosts cancer fundraiser Oct. 6

OAK PARK HEIGHTS — Enjoy food, fun and support the fight against cancer by test-driving a vehicle Oct. 6 at Stillwater Motor Co.

Stillwater Motors will donate $10 to the American Cancer Society for every test drive taken Oct. 6. The first 75 persons at the dealership that day will also receive a free gift.

Although Famous Dave’s will not be at the event, other vendors will serve food, with a portion of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

 Lions Club holds ‘colorful’ cruise on St. Croix River

The Stillwater Lions Club invites St. Croix Valley residents to join club members for a three-hour cruise Oct. 7 to see the fall colors along the St. Croix River.

The trip departs at 1 p.m. aboard the Jubilee II and includes a Southern buffet meal of barbecue chicken and ribs, New Orleans side dishes and dessert.

There will also be games and prizes and trip proceeds benefit various Lions Club projects in the areas of sight, hearing and diabetes.

 Trinity Family Center hosts second annual fall market

The Trinity Family Center hosts its second annual “fall shoppers” market fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13.

Visitors can browse more than 40 vendor booths and bid on silent auction items. Free childcare is offered by licensed childcare staff while parents shop. All proceedsd from the event support the Trinity childcare program and its staff.

 County offers parent education programs

“Thriving With Your Teen! (or Preteen),” a one-session parent education class for parents and caregivers of preteens and teens is offered in Washington County in October, November and December.

“Thriving With Your Teen” helps parents or caregivers learn how to make the most of their relationship and find common ground with their pre-teen and teenager. Participants learn about recent research that can provide useful insight about teen development and effective parenting tips.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Attendees don’t have to be a parent of teens to benefit from this training. Parent educators also welcome. The sessions are offered through Community Education at the following dates and locations:
