Because four of the five sitting Washington County commissioners are up for election in November, only one commissioner is eligible to canvass the general election results when the county canvassing board meets Nov. 13.
District 4 Commissioner Autumn Lehrke, is the only commissioner whose district did not exceed the population change threshold after the 2010 census to trigger an election this year, or whose seat was not up for election. She will sit on the canvassing board along with Molly O’Rourke, county administrator.
State law calls for two commissioners not on the ballot to be members of the canvassing board, but since other four commissioners are on the ballot, O’Rourke will serve as a County Board designee.
Other canvas board members who will certify election results are the county auditor, district court administrator and Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens.
