Practice makes perfect

Stillwater Fire and Rescue personnel pull one of the “victims” safely from the St. Croix River on to their boat while the U.S. Coast Guard looks on Thursday afternoon during an emergency preparedness drill. The city of Stillwater, Washington County, Lakeview Hospital and St. Croix Boat and Packet Co. conducted the drill to practice an emergency plan if a paddleboat hit the Stillwater Lift Bridge. Volunteers from the community posed as victims in the water, wounded people and media members.
