The first Independent School District 834 board meeting of the new school year tonight features reports from various district officials, including first-day enrollment numbers.
Ray Queener, assistant superintendent of business and administrative services, presents first-day enrollment numbers and transportation information. District officials have acknowledged that enrollment has been falling the past few years.
Under state guidelines, the district’s official enrollment numbers for the new school year are taken Oct. 1.
Director of Community Education Lori Brink gives a presentation on the Early Childhood Family Center opening. The new facility opened Tuesday and a celebration take places from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
The center will serve 500 families each week attending school district programs and programs from partner organizations such as Courage Center St. Croix. A promotional video will be shown.
Communications Coordinator Carissa Keister presents feedback received from the community from two community engagement meetings and report what people believe the district is doing well and what needs to be improved.
The school board meets at 7:15 p.m. in the council chambers at Stillwater City Hall.
