I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the Relay For Life of Stillwater. In spite of the terrible weather late Friday night, we were able to get in our ceremonies.
Thank you to our talented committee chairs and coordinators and to all who volunteered to do various jobs (no matter how small). Without your dedication we could not pull off an event of this size.
I want to thank our corporate sponsors, D. J. Raduenz of Stillwater Motor Ço., and the Raduenz family, for the car donation and Tom Schmitt for the painting donation for our raffle. Thanks to everyone who donated items for the silent auction; our event speakers, the American Cancer Society and our ACS staff for crossing the “ts” and dotting the “is” and to everyone who donated money for this event.
Most of all I want to thank our cancer survivors and caregivers. We hold this event to raise money so we can find a cure. When there are survivors walking in the opening lap that means we are getting closer to a cure. This year’s event was dedicated to caregivers. Without caregivers, many cancer patients would not be able to make it to appointments, shop for groceries, go to church or just talk to a friend.
As we celebrated our survivors, we also mourned those who lost their battle. It truly is because of these people that we do this.
Relay participants please remember to come to our wrap up meeting and potluck at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
