Community Thread seeks volunteers for 2 programs

If you enjoy driving and like meeting new people or helping others, Community Thread has volunteer opportunities in two programs that assist Washington County residents.             Community Thread’s transportation program needs additional volunteer drivers to assist county residents with transportation to medical appointments. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles, set their own schedule and receive training, mileage and parking reimbursement.  Community Thread has provided transportation services to medical appointments for those in need since 1967.

The agency’s Neighborhood Service Exchange (NSE), a local time bank program, also seeks county resident of all ages and abilities to join. The NSE began in 1998 and is the county’s first time bank program. Members share their talents such as computer services, cooking, helping with errands, doing minor home repairs, light housekeeping, shopping and other services.  Volunteers set their schedule and have fun meeting other members.

Community Thread is a non-profit human service agency connecting people and enriching lives in the county and western Wisconsin since 1967. Agency programs include the Stillwater and Bayport Senior centers, the Volunteer Center, Transportation, SE, Medical Reserve Corps and the Holiday Bureau.
