Tree Trust will continue providing youth employment programs through the WorkForce Center (WFC) through 2014 under an agreement approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
The WFC receives state and federal funding to provide employment and training services to dislocated workers, adults, youth, and seniors. One of the WFC’s programs is the summer youth employment program.
Each summer, the WFC serves at-risk and special needs youth by providing specialized employment services at a supervised work site. This year, Tree Trust, a non-profit provider, was selected to provide summer youth work experiences to 32 youths each year through 2014 at a cost of $89,000 per year.
Additional federal funds were available this year which, when added to Tree Trust’s contract, allow an additional 16 youth to be served during this summer. This raised the contracted amount for 2012 to $146,000.
