Former Vice President Walter Mondale, right, spoke Monday at a reception for state Senate candidate Julie Bunn at the Rivertown Inn in Stillwater. Mondale cited his own bipartisan work on civil rights, and environmental issues and said, “we need a bipartisan spirit back in the legislature.” He also noted that, “great public issues require debate, and sensible people of good spirit to sit down and compromise.” Bunn, a Lake Elmo resident and former state representative, will face the winner of the District 39 Republican primary between Karin Housley and Eric Langness in November.
