HUDSON, Wis. – The Phipps Center for the Arts proudly presents the 25th annual free outdoor concert by the renowned Minnesota Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. July 8 at in the Lakefront Park band shell in Hudson.
This acclaimed orchestra, under the direction of associate conductor Courtney Lewis, performs a mix of well-loved popular and classical selections for music lovers of all ages.
The program consists of "The Star-Spangled Banner," Smetana’s "The Bartered Bride Overture," Strauss’s "Die Fledermaus Overture," Rodgers’s selections from "The Sound of Music," Beethoven’s "Consecration of the House Overture," Sousa’s "Foshay Tower Washington Memorial March," Williams’s main title from "Star Wars," and
Tchaikovsky’s "1812 Overture."
One of the orchestra’s Symphony for the Cities performances this summer, this concert is sponsored by the Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation, the Margaret Rivers Fund and the William H. Phipps Foundation.
The Lakefront Park band shell is located west of The Phipps Center at the corner of First and Locust streets. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Patrons are asked to respect the comfort of others by not smoking or bringing pets into the seating area.
