Hudson brewer unveils craft beer at Booster Days

HUDSON, Wis. – Pier Five Hundred Restaurant and Bar and Pudge’s Bar will hold the first public tastings of American Sky Beer during Hudson’s annual Booster Days, announced Greg Harris, founder and brewmaster of Hudson Brewing Co., maker of American Sky.

Pier Five Hundred will have American Sky Beer on tap starting Thursday night through Sunday. Pudge’s serves the new beer starting Saturday morning. Along with

his wife and co-founder, Molly, Harris will be at Pier Five Hundred from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at Pudge’s immediately following the Booster Day parade, at about 1 p.m. Saturday. The couple will meet patrons and talk about the American Sky brand and its beers.

Pier Five Hundred is located at 500 1st St., and Pudge’s is at 302 2nd St., both in Hudson.

The company also marches in the parade, which begins at 11 a.m. on Second Street at St. Croix.

Greg Harris also announced that the brewery will introduce two beers during the festivities: Tailgunner Gold and Amber Salute. Tailgunner Gold will be marketed as a year-found beer that sets its sights on all-day drinkability. Amber Salute will be sold as a full-bodied beer with a remarkably smooth profile that demands attention. American Sky will introduce USA IPA this fall.

"For our first beers, we want to introduce styles that appeal to a broad base of beer lovers – full-flavored, but not heavy," said Molly Harris, who is also the brewery’s head marketer. "Tailgunner Gold is smooth, but exciting, with just the right lift. Amber Salute also offers exceptional drinkability, but with a bolder experience."

The Hudson Brewing Co., located at 1510 Swasey Street in Hudson, has scheduled mid-September for the grand opening for its aviation-themed tap room, with distribution of its American Sky beers to follow immediately into liquor stores, restaurants, and bars across Wisconsin’s St. Croix Valley.

Inspired by the spirit of American heroism and individuality represented by U.S. aviators of World War II, American Sky aspires to be a great American brand known for inclusive, timeless beers that appeal to>not only microbrew fanatics, but also that common thread inherent in all beer-drinking Americans.
