Bridging the gap

Pedestrians and bicyclists joined officials from the state departments of Transportation and Natural Resources for the grand opening of the Gateway State Trail Bridge over Manning Avenue in Stillwater Township Monday morning. The historic 100-year-old wrought iron bridge was disassembled at its old site on Minnesota Highway 65 in Koochiching County, brought to the Manning Avenue location, reassembled and lifted into place. The Gateway Trail runs nearly 18 miles from Cayuga Street in St. Paul to Pine Point Regional Park in northwestern Stillwater Township. (Gazette photo by Erik Sandin)
