OAK PARK HEIGHTS – State Rep. Kathy Lohmer, R-Lake Elmo, speaks at a community gathering at 3 p.m. Mondayat Boutwells Landing Town Hall, 5600 Norwich Parkway in Oak Park Heights.
Lohmer will give an update of the 2012 legislative session. The gathering is free and open to the public.
Lohmer was elected to the legislature in 2010 and in her first term held committee assignments on the House Health and Human Services Finance, Health and Humans Services Reform, State Government Finance and Veterans Services Division panels.
Among the issues Lohmer will address are plans for the St. Croix River Crossing project and a capital investment bill containing a provision by Lohmer that secured $1.4 million in capital funding for the City of Oak Park Heights. The assistance will help alleviate the costs associated with the bridge project.
Lohmer also authored a bill for human services legislation authorizing automated drug distribution in health care facilities that do not have in-house pharmacies, including senior care centers. The bi-partisan bill received unanimous support in the House and Senate and was signed into law by the Gov. Mark Dayton in April.
