Washington County WorkForce Center employment counselor Shoua Ly recently received the 2012 Minnesota Family Investment Program/Displaced Worker Program (MFIP/DWP) metropolitan area Employment Counselor of the Year award.

Ly was honored at the June 12 2012 MFIP/DWP Conference in Duluth. Ly is an employment counselor for the program also known as the Federal Welfare to Work Program. The Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Department of Employment and Economic Development co-sponsored the conference.

"The award represents the high quality of work Shoua delivers daily to our customers," said Robert Crawford, WorkForce Center manager. "She was chosen from an esteemed group of MFIP counselors in the metropolitan area. I`m extremely proud of Shoua for winning the award, but more so for the kind of person she is and her dedication to helping our MFIP customers move to self sufficiency. She`s a very special individual that shares her cultural experiences to help make the Workforce Center a better place to work and receive services."
