Board honors paid as ‘Family Child Care Providers

Two women were honored as Washington County "Family Child Care Providers" by the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Cheryl Bennerotte of Woodbury and Kathy Wenzel of Hugo were recognized for their achievement and success as early childhood educators and caregivers and to boost awareness of quality childcare.

The county has recognized two family child care providers in conjuction with the Minnesota Licensed Family Child Care Association’s conference and banquet held for family providers throughout the state.

Those honored annually are nominated by persons in their community and the nominations are reviewed by an ad hoc committee from the county Child Care Council with MLFCCA representatives.

The ad hoc committee’s recommended nominees are then submitted to the county Community Services child-care licensing program and the MLFCCA.

Board makes advisory board appointments

Four persons were appointed to Washington County advisory boards by the Board of Commissioners Tuesday. The appointees were:

n George Dierberger of Baytown Township to the Community Corrections Advisory Board for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2013. District 3 Commissioner Gary Kriesel recommended the appointment.

n Brian Krafthefer of West Lakeland Township to the Public Health Preparedness Advisory Committee for a term expiring Dec. 31. Kriesel recommended the appointment.

n Bob Fossum of Lake Elmo was named citizen representative and Steven Duff municipal representative to the Groundwater Advisory Committee. Fossum’s term expires Dec. 31 and Duff’s term expires Dec. 31, 2013. Commissioners Autumn Lehrke and Lisa Weik recommended the appointments.
