Boys golf: Lillehei places 66th at state

COON RAPIDS – Stillwater junior Lars Lillehei improved by four shots on Wednesday to finish 66th at the Class AAA state boys’ golf tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course.

Lillehei was tied for 70th following Tuesday’s first round 83, but came back with a 79 on Wednesday. Lillehei was co-medalist at the Section 4AAA tournament to earn his first state bid.

Ben Welle, who helped lead Moorhead to the team championship with a score of 599, tied Chaska’s Jon Dutoit for top individual honors with a 142 total. The Spuds posted a 14-shot victory over runner-up Minnetonka in the team standings. Forest Lake (634) and Roseville (653) from the Suburban East Conference placed sixth and eighth at state.
