The Interstate 694 project in Oakdale, Mahtomedi, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake and Maplewood is scheduled to start Monday, Washington County officials announced this week.
Eastbound I-694 between U.S. Highway 61 and 40th Street will be reduced to a single lane starting next week. Westbound I-694 will be reduced to a single lane approximately a week later. The single lane conditions will remain through early November.
The project includes construction of new concrete pavement on I-694 and ramps at U.S. 61, White Bear and Century avenues and Minnesota Highway 36. It also includes construction of four acceleration lanes at the I-694-MN 36 interchange, numerous bridge deck repairs and culvert replacements.
The I-694 resurfacing project will provide a smoother and safer ride. For information about the I-694 resurfacing project visit http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/i694maplewood/.
As permanent lane and ramp closures occur, maps will be added to the above website that show the traffic impacts and detour routes.
