The Washington County Board of Commissioners meets as the county Board of Appeal and Equalization Tuesday night after commissioners meet that afternoon for their first regular session in two weeks.
Under state law, the Board of Appeal and Equalization hears property owners’ appeals of their assessments from 5 to 7 p.m. Because of the evening appeal process, commissioners will start their regular meeting at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Highlights of the regular meeting include the Department of Community Services honoring the "Family Child Care Providers of the Year;" two items from the Public Works Department: update on the Broadway Avenue reconstruction project and a closed session to consider appeal options pertaining to a legal dispute regarding CSAH 2 reconstruction.
After the closed session and adjournment, commissioners have a work session with the Department of Public Health and Environment to discuss the 2003-2013 Groundwater Plan update.
Commissioners did not meet May 29 because that date was the fifth Tuesday of the month and they canceled their June 5 session due to lack of a quorum.
