As the fun from the weekend has turned to office conversation this week, we at FamilyMeans would like to acknowledge and thank Lynnette Dirks and Stacie Jensen, the creative women behind the There’s Only 1 You events at the Water Street Inn on April 13-14.
Lynnette and Stacie approached FamilyMeans about being the beneficiary of the proceeds from the Friday evening fashion show, dessert and wine-tasting event. In addition to the fun fashions unveiled and the opportunity to watch recent American Idol contestant Reed Grimm walk the runway and sing a rendition of "Superstition" that engaged the crowd, the women welcomed five teen-agers and a teen-age coordinator from FamilyMeans youth programs in Landfall and Cimarron to participate as models in the fashion show.
The teen-agers truly enjoyed the evening and taking part in such a well-run event where they each received a moment in the spotlight. Staff and board members in attendance had fun seeing all the styles and enjoying a girls’ night out.
The women’s expo event that followed on Saturday gave FamilyMeans the opportunity to highlight our programs and services while educating attendees on the work we do.
Thanks to all of the attendees and the generosity of Lynnette and Stacie, FamilyMeans was presented with a check for $5,000. It is this kind of support that allows us to provide the best services possible and feel a sense of pride in the programs we are able to offer to the community.
