Gov. Mark Dayton last week signed a capital investment bill containing a provision by Rep. Kathy Lohmer, R-Lake Elmo, that secures $1.4 million in capital funding for Oak Park Heights to help alleviate the costs associated with the St. Croix River Crossing project.
"I am proud to have secured this funding for Oak Park Heights," Lohmer said. "Their small city can be assured that they will not be responsible for the disproportional financing of this very large project."
Some Oak Park Heights officials have argued that the city faces high costs for its part of the bridge project. Those officials also claim the city’s taxpayers would see property taxes increase to help pay for those bridge-related costs.

"Many elected leaders, from the local to the national level in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, have advocated for a new bridge over the years. It is encouraging to see it come to fruition; it is a project that will enhance travelers’ safety and bring jobs to the area."
