Judith Gilbert Davis died unexpectedly at home on April 13, 2012. She was 72.
Judy was a well-known and loved member of the Stillwater community. She was born to parents Faith (Robertson) and Russell Carroll Gilbert of Stillwater on March 4, 1940. Judy found her best friend and partner, Culver Davis Jr., in ninth grade at Stillwater High School where they were both 1958 graduates. Judy and Cub shared a wonderful 53 years of marriage that was an example to all who knew them.
Throughout her life, Judy was a volunteer and supporter of many local organizations. She was Stillwater High School’s first exchange student to Germany in 1957 and continued to support AFS for many years helping students explore the world. Judy was also a dedicated volunteer for the Family Violence Network. And most of all, Judy will long be remembered at Linden Nursing Home where she and Cub brought smiles to residents and staff alike as they led Friday bingo for nearly 22 years. Judy and Cub together received the Community Involvement Lifetime Volunteering Award in 2010.
Judy enjoyed many things in life but none more than spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by husband, Cub; four children, Faith Davis, Culver Davis III and Maureen, Carroll Davis-Johnson and Dave, Charlie Davis and Monica; step-brother, Russell Gilbert and Joanie; sister, Merry McArthur; brother-in-law, Kelly Davis and William Stump; 13 grandchildren, Gretchen (Tony), Paul, George, John, Ruth, Sarah, Morgan, MacKenzie, Culver IV, Aurora, Grace, Erin, Kate, and great-granddaughter, Ava.
A memorial gathering for family and friends to celebrate Judy’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. May 5 at the Davis home, 320 West Pine St. in Stillwater.
Memorials are preferred to Community Thread, Family Means and Valley Outreach, all of Stillwater.
