Washington County residents are invited to join the county’s Community Development Block Grant Citizen Advisory Committee, which provides resident input on the county’s housing block grant programs.
Openings exist for one representative from commissioner District 1, the northern portion of the county encompassing Birchwood, Dellwood, Forest Lake, Grant, Hugo, Mahtomedi, Marine-on-St. Croix, Pine Springs, Scandia, White Bear Lake, and Willernie. There are also two openings for residents who represent the private sector and an opening for a resident who represents the non-profit sector.
The Washington County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Citizen Advisory Committee provides public input to and increases the accountability of the CDBG and HOME programs in Washington County. The program’s purpose is developing strong urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.
The CDBG Citizen Advisory Committee consists of members appointed by the county Board of Commissioners and two ex-officio members representing commissioner districts, the non-profit sector and the private sector, as well as a member from the county Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) Board of Commissioners and county staff.
The Board of Commissioners appoints committee members for staggered three-year terms. Applicants must complete the required county application for appointment to an advisory committee/commission form and submit any background information requested.
Meetings are held at least four times annually at the Washington County Government Center in Stillwater.
Members of the Community Development Block Grant Citizen Advisory Committee receive meeting per diem and mileage reimbursement at the rate established by the County Board.
Those interested in appointment to the committee may contact Pat Raddatz at 651-430-6014 or by e-mail at [email protected] .
