Group to discuss human rights, marriage amendment

A retired Stillwater Area High School social studies teacher who currently teaches community education classes in Western philosophy, ethics and world religious, will speak on "Human Rights and the Marriage Amendment" from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stillwater Public Library.

Jan Spreeman will explore questions that include:

How does the Marriage Amendment affect the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness found in the Declaration of Independence?

What happens when those rights are taken away, and a person is deprived of the right to be who they are as God made them?

What issue does the passage of the amendment resolve?

What are the effects of passing this amendment?

How do we put a human face on the consequences of this amendment?

How can we become involved?
