Foundation awards grants to 3 groups

ArtReach St. Croix, Let’s Go Fishing, Good Samaritan programs to benefit

Programs that support local art, senior citizens and people with disabilities will benefit the greater Stillwater community from grant awards announced Wednesday by the Stillwater Area Foundation.

ArtReach St. Croix, Let’s Go Fishing and Good Samaritan Society were selected as recipients of the local foundation’s second annual round of grants.

The grant to ArtReach St.Croix supports rotating local art exhibits open to the public at the ArtReach St Croix headquarters galleries.

The nonprofit Let’s Go Fishing’s Stillwater Chapter will use its grant to support their mission of enriching the lives of seniors, veterans and persons with disabilities through fishing and boating excursions on the St Croix River.

The grant awarded to Good Samaritan supports their Bus Fund that allows residents of their healthcare center to go on recreational excursions.

Formed in 2010, the Stillwater Area Foundation is focused on growing an endowment in order to support both unmet current nonprofit needs in the community as well as the unknown needs of the future.

In 2010, the Stillwater Area Foundation awarded its first three grants which benefited two local elementary school safety volunteer programs, Lakeview Hospital’s Born to Read program and Good Samaritan.
