Boner and Haas are SAHS Athletes of the Week

SAHS Athletes of the Week

Hailey Boner – Girls golf

The second member of the best 1-2 punch in the state, Hailey Boner is playing some of the best golf of her senior season down the stretch for the reigning state runner-ups.

Playing behind state champion Cassie Deeg in the lineup, the North Dakota State University recruit won two events on a weekend road trip to Duluth. Boner shot a 75 to claim medalist honors at the Ridgeview Invite on Friday and followed that up with a 76 to take top honors at the Northland Invitational on Saturday. Then on Monday, she carded a 40 at Forest Hills to help the Ponies clinch their third straight conference title.

Stillwater was set to host the SEC Tournament at Oak Glen on Thursday.

Alex Haas – Baseball

The Stillwater baseball team has been scoring runs much of the season and the pitching has rounded into shape nicely down the stretch, with help from Alex Haas and a staff that entered the season with little to no varsity experience.

Haas (6-1) threw a complete game six-hitter and did not allow an earned run in Stillwater’s 3-2 victory over Hastings last week, dropping his ERA to under 1.00. The senior has not allowed more than one earned run in each of his last three starts. Stillwater (12-6 SEC, 14-6) won six straight games to close out the regular season in a tie for second place in the league standings.

The Ponies host South St. Paul in the Section 4AAA tournament on Thursday.
